Leo Festival 2024

Dear Listeners,

Inspired by Olga Tokarczuk’s novel Flights, which deals with the issues of movement and time, I would like to encourage you to join us in reflection on these universal issues during this year’s Leo Festival and look at them from the perspective of music and dance.

Performing a piece of music involves realising a sequence of sounds in time. Interestingly, in some languages, words denoting movement in space (French: mouvement, English: movement) are used to describe parts of a work of music, while in others, words related to time (Italian: tempo). So in music these two aspects are inextricably linked. I want Leo Festival 2024 to reflect these ideas and become a journey in time and space, both for the audience and the artists of the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra. The musicians will wander around Wrocław and perform in unconventional places outside the NFM, which will allow them to be closer to the listeners and give the audience lots of fun. There will be several concerts in living rooms. They will be intended for regular listeners of the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra. Those who will collect the biggest number of stickers for attending our Leopoldinum’s regular concerts starting January, will be awarded with an opportunity to invite Leopoldinum musicians in small line-ups to their homes.

We invite you to join us on this musical journey!
